Leadership

Leadership is a process in which a leader attempts to influence his/her followers to establish and accomplish a goal or goals. Inorder for leaders to be successful in the accomplishment of desire goal, the leader exercises his/her power to influence others. That power is exercised in the primary stages by motivating followers to get the job done and in the later stages by rewarding or punishing those who do or not perform to the level of expectation. Leader is viewed as a continous process, with the accomplishment of a task becoming the beginning of a new goal. The right reward by the leader is of significant importance in order to continually motivate followers in the process.

Historically, the aristocratic thinker have agued that leadership depends on one's blue blood or gene: monarchy takes an extreme view of the same idea, and may prop up its assertions against the claims of mere aristocrats by invoking devine sanction. contrariwise, more democratically -inclined theorists have pointed to example of meritocratic leaders, such as the Napoleonic marshals profiting from from careers open to talent.

To crown it all, leadership has undergone changes to meet global dynamics. Leadership is going through transformation processes. As James Macgregor Burns (1978) introduce a normative element: an effective Burnsian leader will unite followers in a shared vision that will improve an organization and society at large. A leader who delivers true value, integrity, and trust.
